What is the legal definition of a "dependent?"?

Is it true that if you have lived with someone for 180+ days and you share living expenses, you are classified as their dependent? If so, can you give me a link where I can find that information online and print it?

If u have a child or a family member who lives with you that you are finacially responsible for.
