Maybe not this time. His "length of service" isn't very long. I think only 2 or 3 years experience. But......I think he'd have a very strong chance in the election after this one.

Republicans would love nothing more that Obama running. Can you imaging? The only time in the history of this country that a woman have a real chance on becoming a president of the United Sates, a real african American show up and end up having the same chances. That only mean on thing, the votes are going to be divided by two.

A lot of people here seem to think the question is whether or not they like Obama, rather than can he get elected.
The prejudice that we see in America is sad, and its evident in this forum here. People will talk about his name, or that he lived in a Muslim nation for several years, or that he's not experienced(as though George W's experience helped him).
The bottom line with Obama is that he generates far more excitement in his campaign that does any other potential candidate. Nearly every Presidential election features a candidate that's able to overcome questions about either his background, his credentials or his name recognition, in order to become their partiy's nominee. Obama is the one candidate with everything working in his favor that will allow him to do just that.
I say, if he runs, he wins. And either way, people are obviously sick of Republicans based on the last election, and I doubt that the stink of Republican corruption will be gone by 2008. Hopefully Americans will continue to reject the increasingly negative, hate-fueled rhetoric of the right-wing and embrace something better.

No, believe me in times of war, Americans will not elect a leader with no experience. Remember in '04 when you went to bed thinking Kerry had it all sewed up....
I also want to add that I think that (even though this shouldn't matter), many folks will find it troubling fo vote for someone named Barack Hussein Obama. Sadly, that is a big strike against him, but I think his inexperience is a bigger strike.

He would not win. He simply does not have the necessary experience for the job.
Can you imagine having somebody who has never managed anything trying to run the US?

Just because he is black he won't win-even if he could really do great things for American after the current administration has caused some people to lose faith in the government. It's sad that based on his skin tone some people won't vote for him.

No, I think he would initially be in the race all the while hoping for a VP slot... from Hillary.

I'm sure the media will leap over a cliff if he changes his mind and says he won't run.

Not now. He is too inexperienced and nobody knows what he stands for.
Kind of like Dennis Kucinich. Nobody cares.
