its a clue for anyone else thats in the car with you to get quiet so you can hear.

A couple reasons.
a) So they can hear it over all other noise.
b) So they can sing it at the top of their lungs and have some noise to cover it up.
c) So that everyone else can hear it.
d) So that everyone else in the car will end conversation and either be quiet and listen or sing a long.
e) So they can jam. =]
