Simple really- why do I seem to like bands of whom no-one knows? I always do it!
EG Kraftwerk, Welle Erzballe, Covenant, Einsturzende Neubauten, Tangerine Dream, Level 42, Freezepop....
If you've heard of any of the above, then it would help.
Any answers anyone?

I think that all Yahoo! Answers users really hate Level 42, or those who have heard of them hate them. I have only come across a few people who've said they like them.
Also, yes I have heard of Faust, High Tide and Hawkwind. Thats how strange my music taste can be.

ive heard of kraftwerk, level 42, and freezepop, why are you worried? dont be. you should be proud to be individual and have varied tastes. lets face it its better than liking the manufactured shite that the majority of todays current sounds are made up off.. commercialised crap!!!!!!!!! you feel free to listen to whoever you please, theres nothing worse than liking something because everyone else does. they just havent got the originality to stand out from the crowd, but instead prefer to blend into background going unnoticed.good on you,and your aquired taste!

Yes I've heard of Kraftwerk , Tangerine Dream and Level 42
I believe that Tangerine Dream where a 60s/70s group, Kraftwerk were or are a German group. As for Level 42 I've got quite a lot of there singles and some of there albums. I think that they where an underrated group, and those who knock them should listen to some of there albums.

...come on, I've got loads of Tangerine Dream albums - good Space-Rock 70s Band that helped my Acid Trips become more Real!!
Also got some Kraftwerk.
Didn't like Level 42.
Have you heard of Amon Duul, Faust, High Tide or Hawkwind then? So there!!

Heard of Kraftwerk - never really "liked" them coz they just stood there..played their organs and..well were pretty boring. Tangerine Dream...priceless group from the late 60's early 70's..I was around then!!!

Level 42 - what a group - Mark King's base playing was so brillianr. Never seen a bass guitar played with a thumb until I saw him. Just bought a live compilation cd set and they sound just as good live as in the studio.

Sorry but the other groups haven't surfaced in my musical repertoire :-)

Your a individual and its all about taste and knowledge.
Knowledge because you have looked into and found this music which is less popular. Maybe if others opened their ears to new sounds they may like it to, rather than follow popular culture music.
I also think that some people can inherit music tastes from their parents.
I have heard of Kraftwerk who are innovators of the electronic sound. Level 42 I have heard of too. I think I have heard on the covenant ( a Gothic sounding band) , but it may be a band of the same name.

Because you appear to have a very defined personal taste in music. Most people aren't interested in gothic/industrial/retro electro and the like. (Although you parents probably have at least one Kraftwerk LP in the garage.)

If you feel alienated or weird about having different taste, just go to a goth/industrial club, they'll be able to rattle off a few dozen bands similar to those above that you won't have heard of and you'll realise that outside different scenes, no one knows the bands. (and that no matter how hard you try, someone always has a better record collection then you *sighs*)

Kraftwerk have been my sons favourite band since he was four and speaks of Ralf and Florian as if they are old friends.
He regularly recreates their concerts with playmobile figures on a Lego stage. His favourite album is 'computer world' but his favourite song is 'electric cafe'.
Mine is the long version of 'autobahn'. For about a week after passing my driving test this is all I would listen to.
I thought everyone likes Kraftwerk.

I've got a couple of tangerine albums but have never listened to them much.

Heard some Einsturzende Neubauten years ago but forgot the name, I believe it was you who reminded me.

I can't explain why you like unusual music, it probably shows that you actually like what you listen rather than just going along with all the bland pap that's thrown at us, alot of which these days would appear to regard itself as being 'edgy' or 'alternative' but is amazingly dull and derivative.

I haven't heard of any of them apart from Kraftwerk and Freezepop, I've never heard any Kraftwerk songs though. But Freezepop have a song on Guitar Hero 2 :)

But yeah, It's good that you listen to music that not a lot of other people do, unless your doing it just to be 'different;

I just listen to what ever sounds good, whether it be Slipknot, Blink 182, Bon Jovi, Darude, Eminem Or whatever really ^_^

Some bands you may not have heard of that are worth a listen:
Skindred (Punk, Metal, Reggae, Rap) (It's a wierd mix but it sounds good)
Quantic (Wierd ambient, hard to explain)
Eleventyseven (Pure fun punk-rock)

The only one I've heard of is Kraftwerk although I haven't actually heard their music. You've probably got great taste and an ability to discover alternative bands. I wish I'd stumble across great bands myself. Might actually give some of those you mentioned a listen!
