It's been said that people fall asleep faster if they think about something they like. For example, day dream about going to Hawaii and you'll find yourself falling asleep faster.
Theoretically, you will fall asleep at the same rate as if you, say, counted sheep but the time just flies by faster.
However, on those horrible nights when I really CAN'T fall asleep (usually if I wake up after falling asleep), I listen to music. It relaxes and helps me think about something other than the fact that I'm not sleeping.

Try a Tylenol P.M. They work great. Or try reading a book - that always knocks me out. Or if I watch TV and it's a really boring show. If all else fails, I get up and do something until I get tired.
