It means, "don't question someone's motives who gives you a gift. Just accept it and be grateful."

Of course, the opposite saying is, "Beware of Greeks bearing gifts," referring to the Trojan Horse.

The whole expression came form when people gave horses as gifts (back in the day). You can tell the age of a horse by looking at its teeth. So... make the connection.

it means be thankful for the gift, dont question the person giving it.
