please elaborate.........
they have a very important job to do. i would rather they were abrupt and rude and thorough with searches etc than let a terrorist through onto a plane.

Not sure about British airport staff, when I was there twice they were nice. Have you ever seen the American show "Airplane" about flying on Southwest Airlines? They are the nicest airline and the customers are nuts. They are drunk a lot of the time and get angry when not allowed on board. I have met my share of mean staff though, I think they hate their jobs and don't get paid enough. I also think they work too long hours, they need a break so they can go get a drink at the airport bar to mellow out! ha ha

they were given some authority and now they think they are superior. They must learn they are still hired to serve the customer. Given enough time we will realize all these dumb clowns and inspection do nothing to make us safe. If you want security hier people that are serving the public with dignity

I think they are just normal people but have to cope with a lot of a**holes in their job.
If it was my job I would probably end up like Basil Faulty.
