Pain is always a warning sign that something is wrong. You should be seen by a Dr. Do not let it go too long because a ruptured appendix can cause major infection and can even lead to death. If another person will place their hand on your side, push in then release quickly, you can kinda tell if it hurts more when they release than when they push in. It is called rebound pain and is indicative of appendicitis. Once again...Do not self diagnose... SEE A DR.

If you think you have appendicitis, you would do well to go and see your family doctor.

If your pain is very bad, then go directly to the emergency room. Going to your family doctor is only likely to result in them referring you to the hospital if you are in bad shape.

Appendicitis is an inflammation (and often infection) of the appendix, a small vestigial part of the intestines. People who have appendicitis often present to their doctors with abdominal pain and some systemic upset - nausea, fever, malaise, loss of appetite.

The pain classically develops over the course of a few days and in the most classical form of appendicitis begins in the midsection and later localizes to the right lower quadrant as the symptoms get worse.

This being said, appendicitis often presents in an atypical fashion. It is the test of a good surgeon to be able to tell which is and isn't appendicitis clinically - and the ultimate test being when an operation occurs and the appendix is removed for examination.

Your appendix is not at all likely to rupture without you knowing about it.

This is a diagnosis that is difficult for doctors to get right. I'm not sure that I'd rely on self-diagnosis if I was in your position. You would do well to be checked out by your family doctor in the first instance if you are unsure. If you have very bad pains, go to the Emergency Room.

Here is what ya do. place your hands on your hips and press your right fingers really hard where they will reach down to. Now stand on your toes and come down hard on your heels and if the pain increases right where your'e pressing, then It's a good possibility. Also I read in Readers Digest the way the old country doctors would diagnose appendicitis is smell the patient's breath and if it smelled like rotten apples that was a real good indication of the appendix

Had it when I was about 16 or so. Pain in the lower right abdomen, nausea, burning pain increases over several days. Decided to have parents take me to the hospital when the pain got severe, about three days in. Appendix ruptured before removal at county hospital, where they gave me big stitches. Overall it's a big hassle and I don't recommend it for anyone.

I had it for some time before I gave in an went to the doctor to see what the pain was, mine ruptured in the emergency waiting room, I was in the hospital for 3 days, but it took a while to heal and I don't have the usual small scar everyone talks of.

I had unusually bad lower right abdomen pain for less than one day and went to ER and they took me into surgery from there. After the surgery at home I developed a bad infection and had some trouble with that, but go over it. I still have the usual two inch scar now 15 years later.

A couple of days--felt like a stomach ache (mild pain)

After about 5 days--something was wrong and I went to the doctor because of worsening pain.

The doctor then knew what was wrong and sent me to the hospital that day. So I would ask your doctor if you think you have it. Remember the pain should mostly be on your right side.
