I just found out that my 2002 already has a rear anti-sway bar, and also that it's not much difference in diameter than the Hotchkis one. So that being the case, is it just that the "high performance" ones use polyurethane bushings, or is their product going to make that much of a difference in regards to handling over what I'm used to?

YES the bushings r everything. When u make a hard turn and the sway bars r keeping the body roll at a min when they reach the limit its the bushings the hlod the turn for u when the bushings r maxed thats when u lose control and or fishtail or spinout or lesser then that it will create a lot of under or oversteer to. And u would also be suprised on how much stronger a quater inch larger diameter will be compared to stock. do it dude u wont regret it.

It depends on where you drive. On bad roads and off road a stiff sway bar can be bad because it makes the wheel that didn't hit the bump lose traction. On good roads and high speed turns they're good because they keep you level.

Will it hurt anything??? No,,,but....there is always a "BUT" the handling will definitely suffer with additional body roll in corners. Off road manners and on road are very definitely different. My suggestion is to replace it for safety. Yes, older cars did not have them, but older cars were not known for safety or handling. Good Luck

As long as your bushings and connecting links are in good shape I doubt that you would be able to tell the difference from one to the other.
