Probably the emergency internal boot release.
These are now a legal requirement for the USA (and possibly Australia), after a kid died by getting trapped in the boot of a car and not being discovered for days. Not that a kid small enough to fit in the boot of a Mini convertible is likely to be old enough or stong enough to use it, but that's regulations for you.

It could be the manual over ride to open the fuel filler flap. A lot of cars have it for when the Cable or Electric motor fails

to close the boot lid while the top is open and if you want to close it from inside mini without going out
