I thought i heard some where that it is law that all cell phones must work for every service provider but it must be "unlocked" or something first. So instead of me purchasing a new service plan with a new phone; I would like to keep my current phone but just add a new service to it. Is that possible?

Call the new service provider you want to use and check. I have a Tracfone and I let mine completely run out but when I called them they sent me a new battery or whatever for the inside of the phone and I was able to add minutes to the phone again.

Good luck!

You can get your phone Unlocked so you can use it on another carrier. You would need to contact your current provider as they would need to do it for you. You also need to have a matching technology phone for the carrier you are wanting to change too. An example is if you have Cingular, and want to go with Sprint (unlikely I know, but this is hypothetical).. Cingular uses GSM technology (with a SIM card) and Sprint uses CDMA technology, so a cingular phone wouldn't be compatible even if it is an unlocked device.

their are many things you can try like oooo, 9999, 1111, 1234, last four of your social, last four of your old cell phone number. or go to your nearest cell hone provider and they can reset your phone if you changed it and do not remember the password....
