I have become very interested in that time period and I love the old movies, the clothes, etc. Sometimes I think I should have been around then. What are the pros and cons about it?

In a way I agree with you and Melissa. People seemed more graceful when you watch them old black & white movies and TV shows. However, don't forget that there were more social oppressions back then and less open medical and social knowledge. One thing for sure, folks were keener on good manners as compared to now. Can't have it all I guess. ;-)

yea the 50's were better if a man had a family that he didn't like he could just move out of state and start a new one!!!!!with very little fear of child support. all that lead in the paint and gasoline was great also! And we change our own oil and just poor it on the fence line to kill the grass!!! TVs were so affordable only about three months salary could get you a black and white tube with 3 or 4 channels!!! And all the Blacks had to sit in the back of the buss and had there own restrooms and water fountains and schools!!!NO Martin Luther king day either!that's was great! Woman stayed at home and cooked as it should be YES
the 50's were just great for the environment,Blacks and Woman!.

PROS:
clothes they are great
Mom stayed home! I am mom
it had to have been less stress
CONS:
TV very few channels
Mom stayed home!
No microwave
No cell phone
having to live through Disco again!

TV was way better then, and music, too.
people weren't so sex-obsessed.
i wouldn've loved to have lived then!!
