Also when i connect it, itunes does not even pop up so i have to manually click on it from my desktop, and u know when u connect it, the summary of the ipod pops up? mine doesn't do that. This thing keeps poping up and it says something like megans ipod cannot be read by the computer or itunes or something please connect it and try again. My dad reset and restored the ipod from the settings thing on the ipod and nothing happened....

ok,take a deep breath... i'm surmising the ipod is in disk mode and full of computer files so when itunes runs no music shows and there's no room to add music because it's full of computer files... i'm sorry for your distress but there is a way out... first you'll need to get out of disk mode... all of my research says the only way to get out of disk mode when it gets stuck there is to reset it (see five r's on link number two)... once you're out of disk mode and the ipod's been restored,i'm afraid you'll have to recreate the music arrangement you had before or at least try to approximate it.

i had an ipod that acted strangely because i had updated itunes and the ipod to the latest software but didn't like the new itunes so went back to the older itunes without taking the ipod software back to the same verion of firmware and had all kinds of problems like the ipod wouldn't shut off and it was intermittent. once i resigned myself to the new itunes and updated itunes and the ipod firmware, all has been fine since.

although i did set the ipod to 'manually manage music' instead of 'sync' so deleting folders and such wouldn't confuse it when it tried to sync to my itunes library if i changed the folders to sync to in photos/movies/contacts..... that's seemed to keep the demons away.

click on the links below and i do believe you'll see how to reset/retry/restart/reinstall/restore you ipod and all will be ok,trust me...

hope this helps you find your way to happiness ...

I assume that iTunes on your computer is still intact.

Try resetting you iPod and see if the computer will recognize it. If it does, then try restoring it. This will clobber what is on the iPod and make it like it is new again.

Then you should be able to reload your music. And never disconnect it unless it is safe to. Also, they ejecting it first, that will close all files on the iPod do it idoesn't get corrupt.
