Y would you wait for a lawyers letter??
If you're already sleeping in separate rooms and he has not made the slighest attempt to reverse that arrangement...then it should be crystal clear, especially if there hasnt been any communication. Do what you gotta do to be ready for the adjustments that a divorce brings about.

Are you positive he is looking to start divorce proceedings? Have you ruled out the possibility of him taking care of other business such as estate planning, composing a will, living will or other important issues. If you haven't already talked to him about this situation, do so. Only he can tell you what he is doing. Why make each other miserable over a possible misunderstanding.

he may have only been to seek advice, you don't say how you found out or if you have any children, but he may have though it would be quick and/or cheap and now realises it mightn't be!
Get yourself to a divorce solicitor asap, you don't need to start proceedings if that's not what you want, but at least you'll be ready if he does, and check the joint account to see if he's trying to move any monies (worst case scenario). Good luck

He may have not seen a lawyer yet. My best advice to you is to get your own lawyer, one that has experience in divorce. Don't wait for him.....that way you'll have the upper hand. Best of luck to you.

You won't get anything from his lawyer, you will be served with divorce papers from the court.

You do not have to be notified until proceedings are filed with the court. Get your own lawyer ASAP.

you wont get anything until he actually files the papers...he may have been seeking legal advice, or even had papers drawn up but until its filed you wont see anything
