I hate those rhetorical questions! Try:
I like the quirky attitude you seem to have. You’ve got a reputation of fostering creativity and I like the fact that I’d be working on products that are accessible to normal consumers. I like the idea of going to work for a company whose products I already use. It makes me feel kind of like I have a stake in what’s going on. One of the things I’ve focused on in my career is marketing to young people and I think I would be pretty effective with my experience. The job here just seems like a good fit with my experience, personality, and interests.

why do you want to work for them???
dont know?
then why did you apply? because you need money?
oh oh
this question really is too see how much You know about that company, so learn about the company first before you go to the interview, so you can answer all positives sides that you learnt in your search about this specific company and that will be your best answer!
Also think in that position what you can bring good to the company taking that position

They really want to know what about their company appeals to you. The best way to answer this question is to do a little research. If they have a web site, look at their mission statement, their recruiting page and see what message they keep reinforcing. For example if they are a company that takes pride in being involved with charities, then tell them you are impressed with their involvement with the community and maybe mention a charity you've been involved with. The more you study up on them the better feeling they'll have about you.

This is another one of those questions that has a 99% chance of hurting you if you answer it incorrectly and a 1% chance of getting you through the door if you answer it right. A time waster.

The real reason you want to work for their company is that you want a job and they are hiring. However, telling the point-blank truth won't get you anywhere. I suggest you give them what they want and say something nice about the company and tie it into your career goals.

A pretty generic answer that could work is: "I feel I can bring a lot of (_________) to the (________). I am very passionate about (_________) and I feel I would enjoy working here." I wish I would've said something like that when I was being interviewed for my first job. I kid you not when I got asked that question I said "Because the lights are bright in here". I wasn't called back.

Research what they do as a company
Research what the particular part of the company you are applying to do e.g customer service, sales, manufacturing.
Ask yourself why you think it would be good to work in... (sales, cleaning, etc) for a company that ... (builds fishtanks, sells insurance, whatever) and let them know the answer.

Good luck with the interview ;)

Because I think it will be an valuable experience for me. I am excited by the prospect of increasing my knowledge by working for you. I have a lot of energy and enthusiasm that I would bring to the company and I would like you to see this displayed.

This is what i would say:

i would like to work for your company because you are a great company with a lot to offer and it has a bright future and i would love to work here.

Suck up to them, I know its childish but it does work!
