Go with the classics- a rainbow, lavender triangle or a lambda.
One of the most usual opening remarks is "I'm planning a vacation, do you know anything about Michigan or Key West?"
I cracked up on the dip in me in the honey remark as that is so old. I saved my underpants that read that for special occasions and they finally wore out after 20 years.
Join your local Equality group and meet more people and you will eventually learn to gaydar most of the time. If you make a mistake the target is often flattered.

Old ones are Dare To Be Different or A Woman Needs A Man Like A Fish Needs A Bicycle.
I found that out the hard way when I bought a cheap tee shirt and wore it to work at a plastics factory when I was in college.

A labrys pin is pretty inside chic.
I still love "Dip me in honey and throw me to the lesbians"....but that may be a little out there for a closet case.

I think the most subtle one I saw was a shirt that said IMRU?... but if was so subtle I actually asked what it meant. So much for my loud mouth.
