I agree the Affirmative Action is reverse racism; but, the situation with the University of Michigan is a hypocritical situation nonetheless. For example, the University will not award points to minorities and women based upon race and gender (to which I concur); yet, the university awards points to relatives of alumni. The university will not award points for economically disadvantaged students, such as current practice of the University of Texas; but, the university will award preference points to relatives of monetary donors.

So to answer your question, YES I believe NY state will stop considering race and gender for admissions and start considering social and economic status as the basis for its policy. New York is probably the most stratified of all fifty states.

U of M only did this in response to a law that was voted on in this state last November. I voted for it but still do not know if I am right. I have lived long enough to remember that being a minority was enough to keep you out of a lot of job and education opportunity's. I am not sure about N.Y. state but I think there is a movement in this country to stop affirmative action. So if they don't at this time they probably will in the future.

U of M didn't agree to anything. They were stopped. The people of Michigan voted down affirmative action last November. I have no knowledge if this was on the ballot in New York or not.

I am not familiar with how NY state works, but I think no matter your race/sex/or whatever, you need to have good grades, pass the entrance exam and the ones you have the highest grades get in then down the line. That is what seems fair, now if NY doesnt go this way, I think they should, just seems fair!!

What about NY state? If they keep on employing a racist admission policy (and that is exactly what it is, by the very definition of the word) then perhaps students who want a equal footed academic environment will take their tuition money elsewhere.
