Most unit have have what is referred to in the industry as a frezstate. it's a low limit thermostat that is preset by the mfg. and they usually are triggered by a low pressure switch on the suction side of your A/C compressor. Once the unit turns off the pressure inside the line will increase and the unit will start up again. This could also be indicative of a low refrigerant charge. 20 degrees c is about 68f which is as low as most domestic units will run. Your unit should be able to run at 24c ok. That's mid 70f which should be comfortable. If not supplement you cooling with an electric fan.
