I manage a tax office for a friend during tax season......

Yesterday, a young man came in the office asking questions about how to file his taxes, as it was his first year filing. I gave him all the necessary info, and he left........

This morning when I came in, he was sitting outside my office waiting for me. He said he had gotten the paperwork he needed, and asked me if I could help him file. He said, "I don't want to tell you this, because I'm bot proud of it, but the reason I need my taxes done so quick is that I have nowhere to go. It's cold outside, and I have a place to stay tonight, but I'm supposed to be out of there tomorrow. I need the money to see if maybe I could rent a room or something until I can get on my feet." I could tell he was sincere, and oh my god, I felt awful for him. I did his taxes, and e-filed them immediately, and my boss told me not to charge him for prep or filing fees.

Please cross your fingers that his refund comes in today.....

What? Bragging about it? Well, it's obvious that you don't know me, or you'd know that I am not that way.

I was trying to get the message out because I want people to put this young guy in their hearts, minds and prayers.....I don't give a cr@p about getting any of the credit! Shees.......

Hello =)

Yes, this happens quite a bit, unfortunately....

I am a merchant, and my motivation is not solely profit.

This is a good thing, because sometimes, well....

Let's just say I don't need to have my taxes filed, because there is no income from my business...LOL

What you experienced was genuine compassion. Sometimes, it just smacks you over the head.....other times it is more difficult to discover. Each and every individual is worthy of compassion, though, in one way or another, however.......

It is a grand thing that you felt this way, however, and I highly recommend the feeling!!! Remember the way it made you feel to be of help to this boy, and strive to repeat the exercise within your life as often as possible. You'll be very happy you did!!

To Joyceelean, above.....this is not Pride nor vanity....this is an awakening. The feelings were genuine, and this asker is just expressing her surprise at feeling them. There is no boasting to be found here. The good Karma is valid, and much merit has been accumulated. Discussing one's feelings is never boasting....there is a difference. I would say that you and I are more guilty of Vanity, for claiming to know the mind of Karma, than this good woman. I am willing to own that, however.....

Namaste,

--Tom

Yes..but you should boast about your good deads..Good Karma only comes around when you do good deads and not push it in everyone's face that you did a good dead for the day. It should be between you and the person and no one else. Your heart and your consciences will be clean so long as you don't brag about it.

Its a form of vanity.

P.S. You obviously do want the credit or you wouldn't of been offended by my answer.

Just remember you are asking for peoples opinions..and I gave mine.
