Look for another job.

I know how you feel. Sometimes w/my job I find myself in the same situation. Plus, I get a little bit of a hard time for being a guy and working at a "secretary-type" position. So now I just call myself a "project assistant"...lol. But, yeah, I understand where you're coming from.

If you're finding yourself bored, since you say your boss is cool, maybe you could ask him, or a co-worker, if there are any minor little tasks you can take care of for them. This shows people that you have a productive attitude and bosses LOVE that kind of attitude from the people that work for them. I know mine does. This will also help you reference-wise when you do get another job because, due to your productive attitude, your boss will very likely give a good recommendation for you.

Basically, if there's no work, find some. And if you're falling asleep, try going to bed earlier. Sometimes sleepiness on the job isn't totally from boredom.

I know this may not have exactly been the answer you were hoping for, but I hope I was helpful anyway.

If you have not already looked into takeing some college classes I sugesst that to start because even if you only take one class at a time (for financial reasons or to have more spare time) you will be able to tell any employer you are working on a degree and that will open a whole new job market for you. Pretty much anything you want to do on an entrance level. You could even get an internship and travel that would probly be more exciting then siting behind a desk all day

I dont know about your area, and what else you can accomplish.
But , I remenber my first job as a receptionist, I used to fall sleep too , my boss found me 4 times, and he was laughing HE knew there was nothing to do, and He offered me more things to do, ( small company ) so I start doing his errands, go to the bank , etc.
then I start doing some others job in the office, like manager office, I learn a lot, but then he couldn't pay me more and he said i deserve more for what I wasa doing, so he asked me to go for my good.
For my next job i had more experience and I worked in a store, as a customer service, it was very nice dealing with people everyday, more exiting we were like 6 girls at the same store, and I never fall sleep again.
Look for something with more action, Im sure you can handle.

Have you considered waiting tables somewhere--like Joe's Crab Shack?? I heard it was tons of fun, and you would make great tips!! Your shifts wouldnt last 8 hours like other jobs, but you would make just as much money if not more. I think you would have a great time!

you could try going to school part time, that way when you get bored at your job you could study for school, not only will this help with your boredom, but will also help when you try to go and get a different job
