I am interested in working as a teacher in North Carolina and need to know what credentials I need to obatin in order to do so. I have worked in Case Management and Journalism mostly but am looking to branch into a new career field for awhile. What's the best grade for me to start with? Any info will help me a great deal. Thanks!

Contact North Carolina department of public instruction. If you do not have any education classes under your belt, you probably will have to go to school to obtain thoses courses while you are teaching. As for the grade level you should start out with, it depends on which one you are interested in and feel comfortable with. Some people have patience with smaller children and some don't. Some people want to teach middle school/high school kids whose going through their stage others don't. So it depends on which one you are interested in.

Contact your state department of education and they can tell you what credentials you must have to be licensed to teach. Also, your state department can tell you what areas have shortages so if there is an area you are interested in, the possibility of finding a job will increase.
