and now I want to transfer the songs from them , onto my mp3 player, trouble is they are wma files (whatever they are) Can anybody tell how to convert them?

Use an mp3 converter, there are plenty on the internet that are free.

You can use windows media player to record Mp3's and synchronise with your mobile device.
You will need to change file types from wma to mp3 that is how it records them. The standard is wma but you have to tell it mp3.
Click 'Tools' then options, then at the top are tabs for options. Look for the rip music tab and click it. Then in the rip settings click the menu and choose mp3 under format. Your music should now be ripped in mp3 format.
Then go to the 'File Types' tab and choose the 'Select All' button about half way down on the right.
This makes your media player have the ability to play all file types. Errm! I can't think of any more at the moment. You will have to redo your Cd's so they are now mp3 but the player should make it easier to "sync" or store files on your player.

If you've got XP,go to programs,scroll to Windows Digital Media Enchantments,there you will find Windows Audio Converter, no need to down load anything

Delete them. Reburn them, but go into options and Rip Music settings and change it to MP3. No need to buy dodgy software..

Maybe I'm being daft but...
can you not just rip them to WIndows Media Player and then sync them to your MP3? I'm sure thats what I do...

if you have itunes you can just drag and drop the songs you want into the system and it will convert them for you, itunes is free and can be dl from apple.com
