Food is food no matter how small and expensive you make it, it is all the same. I prefer not to go to the coat and tie places and stick with the normal any and everyone restaurants but from time to time a nice fancy dinner is a good change.

I Personally do not want to have to get all dressed up to go out. But, when you dine in a nice place, you need to consider the rest of the patrons. Some people only go out for a really nice dinner once a year. I shouldn't dumb down their experience because I look like I'm going clubbing. So, I get dressed up and follow the dress code.

Restaurants should be allowed to determine what is suitable dress in their establishments. We prefer pubs over dress up places because of the relaxed atmosphere and no one pays attention to how many pitchers of beer you consume. In addition, they have those new plasma flat screen tv's with a variety of sports programming.
Occasionally, like on our anniversary or birthday, we will go someplace that is a bit more formal, but sans the suit and tie routine. Too buttoned-down for our tastes.

I'm torn. I like going to fancy restaurants, and I used to like when everyone dressed up, but now that I'm older and spill more, I'd rather not have to dress as formally yet still go to some fancy French restaurants, etc. I like to wear clothes that I can throw in the washer.

So I don't know. Dressing up is nice, but making people dress up, I don't know. Can a law mandate it? Can a restaurant throw you out if you don't have a tie, but you're clean? They don't throw women out who aren't wearing a ties.

I'm all for throwing out people who stink like a chimney because they smoked in their closed-up car on the way over. But how far can it go?

So I'm very, very torn on this issue. Did I say VERY torn?

the restaurants I go to let me dress casual- jeans, blouse or t-shirt and sneakers. I can not afford those dress-up places nor would I be comfortable there. The only time I would dress up is for a wedding

I have no strong feelings about this. Business owners have every right to restrict dress at their establishments. They are attempting to cater to a particular demographic and what would make THAT group of people feel most comfortable. So if there is a bar that requires a collared shirt, and you are adamantly against wearing one, chances are you'd feel out of place with or without it.

I rarely go to places where I have to dress up. Jeans is my style, and bare foot if I can get away with it!

We should all go naked where ever we want, its au naturel. Just watch your pecker and your jugs when you eat hot soup.
