Sometimes i ask my self that same question...Im going into my second semester is college.... I want so much stuff but only work part time because im in college... sometimes i wonder if i should quit school and get a full time job.. but then i realize if i quit then i will only be able to get jobs that pay $6.50 an hour or if i hit it big maybe $10.00 an hour and that wont work for the style of life i want so i continue on to school because with a bachelors or masters degree i can make alot more money... without college maybe 20k a year and with a college degree so much more like 50k, 100k a year... i just cant wait until that day comes along..just another 3 and a half years then i will go to dental school, or law school or something which will take 3-4 years and then after that ill be rich..

It all depends on what you want to be. If you want to be a skilled tradesman (ie welder, plumber, etc) then no it might not be. And for all you that think you have to go to college to make good money your wrong. Welders can make up to $70 an hour and alot fo your pay is tax free (per diem)
There is a huge advantage to going to college though. It opens you up to a lot of job opportunities that would not have been there before.
There is a school of thought that contends that if you take the money that you would go into debt for college (or pay for college) and invest it you would make more money than the income increase from a college degree. And mathematically they are correct. However the happiness factor of what you want to be can override the mathmatics.
You will want to get out on your own and make your way. Don;t be a bum, be productive - with or without the degree.
It can be worth it, but there are aslo alot of colelge grads serving coffee at Starbucks and alot that get a BA/BS and cannot get a job so they go back for more school. Work experience counts too. I'd rather hire someone with real world exerience vs a 4 year grad with no experience outside of being told what to think.
I am going back to finish my degree. I left college my Sr year and joined the Army. It took me a while to figure out what I really wanted to do. So maybe you work for a while and see what the world has to offer.

College is only worth what you put in to it. Look at the job oppurtunities available to you in the field you are seeking your degree in. Make sure there are openings and a need for this profession where you intend to live when you finish college. Many people go to college and get degrees in a field they like but have no job openings available to them when they graduate because their field is not in demand where they choose to live and then there degree is wasted. After you explore the need for the job in the area you choose to live then explore the colleges that offer the field you choose to study. somtimes a local community college is best suited and least expensive. You can be with friends and family you have known for years and work if need be while you go. Other times because the field you choose may not be offered at a local college or at a community college level then you need to expand and go further away. Often when you reside on a campus and are experiencing your first time away from home you get caught up in the partying scene at college and forget to place your head in the books where they need to be to obtain your goal. If you are strong willed and can avoid partying, not entirely but enough to find an even balance between your school work and you playing then by all means, if it is affordable for you, then go away. If it is not affordable then go as locally as you can and enjoy your school to the fullest by getting involoved in activities at the school and you will still have fun and many new experiences. Good luck in your soul searching and in making the right decision. The reward in the end is an education that will take you to the next level in your life if you plan right.

It depends on what you believe you are sacrifising. If you plan to go away to college, you gain a new experience in a new place. Those experiences become yours, and yours only. That, in itself, is valuable. I went away to college and don't regret because living some place new from my birth place was a lot of fun and it forced me to become independent faster. I learned a lot from it. You may be saying good bye to friends and family for a while but in the end, it's a test of true friendship. You end up keeping in touch with those who are most important to you and those who care enough to contact you even though you may not be around to hang out every day. You also gain a lot of new friends in your new home and we all become a little more special when we've grown up some where other than the area you are going to school in. Your question "is college worth it?" in general... Yes. You'll regret it for a long time if you don't choose to go to college. But don't let anyone put you under the impression you need to go away to college either. Community colleges for the two years of college is a great way to save money and stay closer to home while you figure out what you really want to do. Good luck!

Yes. There are not a lot of jobs out there nowadays that you can get paid well unless you have a college degree. You'd have to have some great vocational skill that would let your forego your continuing education, and even then, to move up on the pay scale, you're going to need a degree. So suck it up, bite the bullet, and work your way towards earning a degree. You'll be glad you did in the end when you're bringing home more than minimum wage.

Ya, in the end its all worth it. Its the best investment you will make. I had a hard time goin away. I loved bein home and hanging with my family, bro and girlfriend. I didn't want to go away. But I go back home every weekend. For me being home is alot more fun than college, But even though I have to sacrifice alot right now, it will make my life awesome later on.

Well I think if you're hard working and determined yes. If you know you're a lazy procrastinator I would lean toward the more easier major. I'm hard working and determined only sometimes when I'm truly motivated but I really want to become a doctor. I know I'm going to get frustrated and I know I'm just going to want to give up so I'm now planning to major in Psychology or Nursing. I know myself and I don't want to depress myself even more by doing something I know I won't be motivated to do. True, it does bring in more money but even after college when you major in something difficult the real job is even 2xs harder.

Yes, college is worth it. I am a teacher and a mother of two. When I in college the same thoughts were going threw my head that are in your head right now. I WAS EVEN GOING TO DROP OUT OF COLLEGE. Here is a true story why you should STAY in college.

My friend Amanda and I were in college both studing to become a teacher. But then Amanda dropped out of college and married this rich guy and had 3 kids. The guy dumped here after 10 years of marriage and went to another woman. She had to work at Chuckie Cheese to suport here and her 3 kids. If she had a degree she wouldn't have to work at Chuckie Cheese for the rest of here life.
