It's really according to which PS2 you have. If you have the older model the big black box you have to get an online adaptor for it. It plugs right into the back of your PS2 and it comes with a setup disc included. Now you can with this one use a dial-up connection but most games want you on a broadband connection.

Now with the newer "slim" PS2 it has an ethernet port right on the back of it. If you have a broadband connection all you'll have to have is a cat5e cable. Now most games on the PS2 are free to play online but some do charge you. You will have to setup an account at the places that do charge you so you won't be surprised by any billing.

No it's not like Xbox live where they charge so much per month or year. It's all included in the PS2 but the online games are hosted by the game manufactures not by Sony itself. So some games will play really well online and some others will be really slow.

I have included a link below going to Sony's website if you ned help in connecting your PS2 online. I hope you enjoy your gaming.
