I think some of the best action movies are the ones that have a good plot as well. Not just things exploding and people gettign shot. A couple to start with that everyone i know enjoyed would be:
1)The Boondock Saints
2)Snatch
3)Lock, Stock, and 2 smoking barrels
4)Jet Li Fist of Legend (make sure it is fist of legend) remake of bruce lee's fist of fury. I think is debatably 1 one the best martial art films ever made without the fake flying and crappy wire effects.
5) LOTR trilogy (fantasy but the war scenes r incredible).
6)lucky # slevin was a really good 1 to
Those r the newer ones but dont forget the classics like
the Predator,Rambo first blood
look arouond and u find some great 1s but i strongly recommend u see the 5 i mentioned if u have not already
