Check his tonsils. They may be inflamed, causing a restriction of airflow, and snoring. This could be the problem, otherwise if this doesn't go away, I would call the doctor and ask. A nurse or someone may be able to give you some information on what could be going on.

Green means infection, but particularly seeing as this is Easter Sunday you can safely treat it at home as long as baby isn't in pain. NOT ALL INFECTIONS NEED ANTIBIOTICS -if the baby can fight the infection off on their own that is much healthier. The best thing is breastmilk up the nose. This will fight both bacterial and viral infections and reduces inflammation. Also breastmilk doesn't cause over-drying. However if you don't happen to have breastmilk saline solution is a reasonable substitute. You don't need to buy it, just boil water for 5 minutes and then dissolve salt in it. You want it as salty as tears are. Another thing that is helpful, and this is where you are going to think I am insane... take hydrogen peroxide and dilute it 50% with warm water (to make it body temp) and put it in the baby's ear while baby lies down. Keep it there for 30 seconds - 2 minutes (it feels kind of weird some people tolerate it better than others). Repeat on the other side. Don't forget to flip the baby back on the other side after the second ear to let the second ear drain. The ears, sinuses and throat are all connected. And bacteria will often hang out in the ears and keep re-infecting the throat and sinuses. ONLY use pure hydrogen peroxide which comes in brown bottles. Some hydrogen peroxide and ALL the ones in clear or white bottles contain stabilizers many of which are toxic. The best place to buy hydrogen peroxide is at a dollar store. Garlic and ginger are helpful for boosting the immune system but some moms are uncomfortable offering them to babies (though there is no evidence that culinary use of herbs should be restricted.)

I am going through the same thing with my 5 year old daughter. Her tonsils are swollen, and also her adenoids need to be removed. We are waiting until summertime to do the surgery, so in the meantime we are using those BreathRight strips. (Like the football players wear!) They are available at pharmacies and stores like Wal Mart.

It could be his position, or he may have a sleeping problem; like sleep apnea. Also, he may have something wrong in his throat or nasal passage. If it is his position, try having him sleep angled up, that opens the nasal passage and opens the throat. See your doctor so you know for sure.

See a doctor, my friend solved this by having his son's tonsils removed.
