I was training for track in high school and i was doin real good. until it got cold. and i hate running in the cold. any way my mile run was 8 min and 30 seconds. i started training in september and i was just doing it in gym class maybe 2-3 times a week. when i started i was running the mile in 10 and and it was november when it was 8 min 30 secs. i was eating healthy too. but i lost my composure and just started scarfing down all the foods i was doing so good at avoiding. and i haven't run since november : ( so i'm positive that i suck now. i need help with better eating habits and maybe suggestions on how i can get my mile to 5 minutes or less

i am going to be perfectly honest with you, i don't think that you will be able to run a 5 min mile come track season for multiple reasons. the main one is that it sounds like you are out of shape and running is all about being in shape. plus a 5 min mile is a great time even for people that have been running all of there lives. so unless you start running NOW and really push yourself it is not going to happen.

I don't want to sound discouraging, but no. You can probably lower your mile time to, like, 6 minutes. I used to be able to run a mile in 7 minutes and 30 seconds, and now I can run one in 6 minutes and 30 seconds. You just need to keep training. Try running 3 miles, then 2 miles, and then 1. I used to do that for cross country,
