The easiest way is to become involved in the witness protection program.
From a legal standpoint, you can use any name that you wish, as long as you are not doing it for fraudulent or illegal purposes.
The social security number has become an identifier, even though it says right on the card NOT FOR IDENTIFICATION.
Get in the habit of never giving your SSN, except for bank and other legal forms, such as employment.
If someone who has no business having your number insists, give them a phony number. Get rid of your credit cards. Use cash as much as possible.

yes it is possible as long as you are not trying to run from the law or creditors, plus it is very expensive because you not only change your name, you have to change all old documents too like your birth certificate, drivers licensce, etc.

I don't think you can change your identity.You can change your hair and everything but your personality is not that easy to change.
