I am almost scared to comment, gas in this town is $1.98 a gallon, I don't know how long it has been above $2.00 a gallon but seems like forever. I think the time has come to find alternative fuel. These so called friends of ours in the middle east are going to rape us that is for sure. We do not need to drill anywhere, what is needed is a way to get the U.S. off of oil permanently. When there is no need for it, those sand pigeons can eat their sand and wash it down with oil.

I do not think that gas will get that high, or much higher than it is presently. The oil producing countries cannot cut off oil supplies and still survive. If they did, the economy would fall and if that happens, the middle east will lose billions and billions of dollars. Since they have so many investments in the western countries, they go down to tube along with everyone else. If the muslim countries are going to take over our country, it will not be by war, it will be financial. And, guess what folks, we are letting them do it. They are taking over the banks, large industrial companies, etc. The money keeps flowing into the middle east coffers.

No but I do know the higher the gas is the more we have to pay for everything since everything needs gas to be shipped to the stores. I want the human race to grow up and start using a fuel source that doesn't harm the environment. We won't run out of oil simply because long before we burn it all we will have completely ruined the atmosphere with CO2. Life will not be sustainable on our tiny little rock in space.

I honestly don't care how much gas is in the coming months or years. I would GLADLY pay $10 a gallon if it meant not having to import oil from the Middle East or Venezuela. Funny to me that people complain about high gas prices and unfair oil company profits when Apple Computers just posted over $1 BILLION in quarterly profits thanks to people paying $400 for I-pods that cost less than $20 to manufacture!

The tree huggers will never allow us to drill anywhere else, nor build new refineries. the gas prices here in NC range from less than $2.00/ gal in Chatam county to $2.15 in Raleigh NC, and $2.05 in the outlying areas around Raleigh. If we go back and remember that when gas prices b4 Katrina was at $50.00 a barrel, our price at the pump was less that $2.00 a gal. last check that I saw that was the going rate again for a barrel of gas, earlier in the week....it is just the government is allowing the gas companies to rape us, and neither party is going to do anything about it.....I doubt they will even address it in the political season. But what ever you do.....Do not buy your gas from a Citgo station.....that money goes to Hugo Chavez.....he is the guy that talked **** about Bush, and our COUNTRY. He says that money goes to his ppl. Well it does not appear so, those ppl in his country have not seen any benefit from the sale of his gas. they are still poor...and Chavez is taking all the profit.

Keep an eye on the Ethanol situation. There are new techniques out there that can make ethanol out of waste. And the big push is on the American corn growers to produce more corn to produce more ethanol. If we can do this you'll see the price of gasoline drop instead of rise because we'll have a plentiful and ready supply of fuel (ethanol).

That should get a few of the big gas guzzlers off the road,I'm all for whatever it takes to loose the dependence on oil, Hell, make it $40.00 a gallon,if that's what it takes, If you're not gettin AT LEAST 28 mpg,you are part of the problem, but at that price,I bet you soon will EDIT: Answerman hits it right on the head !!

I dont doubt that this is coming, when is anybodys guess. The real sad part is we should have seen it years ago, and begun weaning ourselves off of it(foriegn energy supplies) while developing alternative sources here...but we didnt do enough. Better mass transit country wide and alternative energy sources phasing in would have put us in a position to tell them what to do with thier oil....better late than never??maybe.

I look for gas prices in the range of $2.75 a gallon by the end of May. They will find some reason for the hike. Happens every year. Then we have a congressional investigation that leads nowhere.
