Is the rest of the U.S. getting more dumb? I have found words in the dictionary I would never have dreamed possible. Words like "stupider, stupidest, etc... " What happened to the nation's pride in education?

Why must you always be the smartest person in the room? Sounds like your head is a little bloated just off of that statement. Now days the dictionaries include slang words and formations with odd suffixes. It's more that the nation is trying to accomidate to the growing number of uneducated masses. Some of the smartest people in the world use words that don't sound exactly right some times, it's human nature! By the way, you proved your own point ... "more dumb" ... it's easier and grammatically correct to say dumber or less intelligent. Now "more dumber" would be stupid without a doubt.

It's not just education... It's moral values, am I the only 14 year old in the room who value not lying, stealing, and respect?

Jesus everywhere I go I see at least some one daring some one to steal that candy from that person or tricking some one that the coin another man dropped was theirs...

But I agree, our education is going downhill...

You can relax now, I'm here. So you no longer are the smartest person in the room!
As for our educational system, I agree with the very first response. I'm a teacher, so believe me I know!

THis is what they mean by "pride cometh before a great fall" -- I'm sure other countries are getting a big laugh sitting back watching this self-mutilation happening in America.

You could be the smartest person in the whole world but it wouldn't mean a thing if you don't know how to use your intelligence.
Being the smartest doesn't mean you are the most wise.

i guess the dictionary company wants to be understood by "common" people.as for the education thing, people are losing interest, and are more into the money they'll earn when they finally get a job.i don't understand how they'll get a well paying job if they don't care about learning. ccan someone tell me the answer to that?

I can think of two reasons you are the smartest person in the room. You are the only person in the room or, no, I was going to say all the other people in the room are chimpanzees, but one of them may be smarter.

This happened when we gave the government a monopoly on education, without competition there is no motive to improve performance. "The Rabbi that praises himself has a congregation of one."

I'd have to say you are the (self proclaimed) smartest person in the room because I am not in the room with you.

More dumb? I bet you think you are "more better" as well as smarter.

I don't think you are qualified to draw conclusions in this area... Insufficient grey matter. However, you may be a good example of the problem.
