I am a 25 year old female with PolyCystic Ovarian Syndrome. I have completed the highest levels of CLOMID with no results and now my dr wants to put me on Glucophage. My husband and I are trying to get pregnant and I understand Glucophage and Clomid combined are more effective that Clomid alone and Glucophage can aid in loosing weight too. Please help me out ladies and share your stories. We have been trying to get pregnant for 3 years with one miscarriage a year ago and I feel like a failure to my husband because I can not provide him a family. Any insight would be greatful and appreciated. Thank you!

My dose of Clomid is 200mg, the highest dose reccomended but some doctors will go as high at 250 mg.

Metformin--the generic for glucophage--is what I take. I have pcos and am currently on the max of met 2550mg per day (850 3xdaily). I take it in combination with Clomid and ovulate most cycles. What dose of clomid have you tried, I'm currently at 250mgs. I would be happy to answer any questions, just email me jilldaniel_wv@yahoo.com

My sister has PCOS as well, and she has been put on both Glucophage and Clomid to aid her. She was told by her doctor that the chances were higher with these 2 medications as well, but to date has not gotten pregnant either. She has been trying for about a year and definately feels the disappointment you are going thru. KEEP your head up!

I was on clomid (150mg) for 5mths and had been trying to get pregnant for almost 3yrs, with 4 miscarraiges. I couldnt figure out why I wasnt getting/staying pregnant, because we got pregnant with our son so easily. Last Feb I was diagnosed with PCOS w/insulin resistance, and my dr told me to do a low carb/sugar diet and 1500mg of Glucophage (metformin). I got pregnant that same month and now have a 2mth old daughter.
I was diagnosed on Feb 17, 2006...started the diet and meds that day...I ovulated on Feb 26, 2006 and got a positive pregnancy test 5 days before my period was due on 3/8!!

I have PCOS and I take 2000 mg of metformin daily. I did 2 rounds of clomid (100 mg and 150 mg) and I o'ed on 150 mg cd 3-9. No pregnancy though so we are moving on to injectables. If you are ovulating and not getting pregnant it might be a male factor issue or clomid could be thinning your lining or making your cervical mucus hostile. I wish you all the best of luck, I know how frustrating this is. Good luck!

I have PCOS but I wasn't prescribed glucophage. I just wanted to wish you luck and tell you to keep your chin up. I know what it's like to have that feeling of failure as a wife and woman. Hang in there.
