Hi:

You might also get some ideas from watching the DIY network for 'Crafters Coast to Coast', 'Knitty Gritty', 'Knit One, Pearl Two', 'DIY Pottery'. There are so many different things you might do.

If you are looking in an artistic direction, check out the online artists community wetcanvas, that currently has more than 95,000 members worldwide. Basic membership is completely free, and there are many forums, including various painting styles and medium (like watercolor, oil, pastel), sculpture, wearable art, glass art such as lampworking (usually bead making) and fused glass.

You might also check out polymer clay like Fimo, or Sculpey. Check out any books by Donna Kato, she seems to really do exceptional work, and that will give you an idea about what that material can do. You can make jewelry with this material, too. There is also Precious Metal Clay (PMC) that can easily make actual jewelry in silver and/or gold, and the clay can be easily fired with a butane torch, or small 'hot-pot'. Check out PMC Supply for some example videos on what can be done with this material, and supplies and starter kits - delphiglass has that too, and also supplies for stained glass, lampworking and fusing.

Dharma Trading has supplies for dyeing and painting fabric. This is a great site too, because fiber artists post projects and samples of their work there too.

For ceramics, check out the periodicals 'Ceramics Monthly' and 'Clay Times' for possible information on classes that would be available to in your area. Here in the Kansas City Missouri area, the Kansas City Clay Guild has many classes, as well as other studios, like Red Star and Backdoor Pottery.

You might also check out hobbies like woodworking or auto mechanics. There are truly so many to choose from, the list is practically endless.

Hope this helps, and I truly hope you find a hobby that you love and are so good at, it becomes your life! :)

I'm a little older than you and I've been crocheting for years and just recently started knitting. I always thought knitting would be hard but with the help of DIY's Knitty Gritty, and knitting magazines like knit 1 and others I picked it up pretty quickly. My 9 year old son has recently started knitting and his concentration in school has improved. Stores like Wal-Mart sell the starter kits for knitters. Also, stores like Micheals hobby store and Hobby Lobby also sell starter kits. I hope you pick it up and enjoy it as much as I do. Take care and Happy Knitting.

What do you like to do? What are your interests? Once you answer those question you'll know what hobby(s) to chose.

For example:

Do you like to cook?
Then maybe a cooking class or a cake decorating class.

Do you like to take photos?
Then maybe a photography class or a scrapbooking class.

Do you like to draw or paint?
Then maybe an art class.

There are so many things to chose from but it you can't decide, you can try stuff out until you find the one that is right for you.
