I have a gas heater that has a seperate upstairs and downstairs hookup. The downstairs turns on and off like it is suppose too. However the up stairs once it goes on will not turn off on its own no matter what. However if I go downstairs in the basement and take the red wire off of the upstairs hookup the heat will turn off. Does anyone know what the problem could be?? How do I fix this?? Thanks.

if you changed the upstairs thermostat make sure it is level, if not level it will send the wrong signal and either stay on or not go on at all. also double check your wiring for loose or broken wires.

Sounds like it might be the thermostat...but I'm no expert~~ It sounds like it might be dangerous though, I think I would have an electrician check it out.
Good Luck!

if they are separate they most likely have separate thermostats right? look at your upper thermostat to make sure it is in the proper operating range.

sounds like your thermostat isn't sending the signal that the temp has been reached. might need to replace it.
