Just a few weeks ago my old 82 Power Ram 150 would not start. It turned over fine but just didn't seem to be getting gas. When I poured a little gas down the carb, it would pop a little and try to run for a few seconds. Anyway, I took it to a local mechanic and he replaced the fuel pump. The problem seemed to be solved and the truck run great for a while. Now the truck is doing the exact same thing. I'm concerned the fuel pump was never the problem in the first place and the mechanic ripped me off. Anybody know what else the problem could be. I'd like to have some ideas before I go back to the mechanic. Everthing else with truck appears to be fine. I will say we have been pretty cold here (about 0-minus 5 at night). The tank is half-filled however, and I've never had line freeze-ups at these temps. I also poured about two bottles of heat into the tank. This did not help. Thanks

Try turning the ignition.

I would start with a new fuel filter. and go from there. Fuel pumps can be checked! on the older mechanical pumps you can do a vacum test to verify proper operation. on the electric pumps they can check it with a pressure gauge. a long shot problem can be the lobe or roller on the cam shaft has worn to the point that it no longer moves the mechanical arm on the pump par enough for proper operation.

unhook the fuel line coming off the tank near the carbureator, if youve pumped the gas and you crank the motor and youre not getting gas new or not the fuel pump is bad, or youre fuel lines could be resricted or have corsion inside, if its getting gas you have choke or carb problems, some of them act up in older vehicles in cold weather

Sounds like the Fuel pump again! He probably replaced it with a remanufactured unit and they aren't worth a crap as a rule. Especially from Auto Zone, or Advance Auto Parts! Get you one from a NAPA store and replace it!

Cause its an american car. Trade it in for a Jap truck, they're far more reliable than the garbage cars america puts out
