Hired a skip last year for £130 and that was provided it was placed on our property .If you want it on the road then you have to pay about £15 extra for a licence from the council which takes about 3 days to obtain. Just another rip off by our local councils.
Skip companies around here allow you to keep the skip for about a week.

Too bloody dear! I've hired a few in the past and a few tips....

- they're more expensive over a holiday (like a bank holiday weekend)
- they're more expensive to park on the road....so it's cheaper to have them dump on your drive so you have to keep your car on the road instead
- whatever size you hire will never be enough....because once your neighbours see a skip, they'll surreptiously dump stuff in it under cover of night, unless you're in a good neighbourhood or know them well or scare them off beforehand.

Instead I've actually worked out how much crap I have to dump, looked through the local papers and found a "man with a van" or "rubbish clearance" people instead. Sometimes they're cheaper.....you really need to research on the internet, use www.yell.com for a local area search and ring a few companys up. Some of them are good enough to help you work our what size skip you need (like a loft's worth, or a shed's worth etc).
Those who don't feel helpful, forget about them and go elsewhere!

Last time I had a clear out (but I had had one the year before using a small skip) so I was just clearing out a year's worth of crap......cost me less to have the man with a van do 2 trips to the dump. That involved me just dumping everything out onto my drive and him picking it all up and taking it away.....twice.

Good luck.......

Hi
you can get a small one for about £30 but depends what part of the country you're in and what size you need. It will be under £100 anyway

all depends on the size for a small skip £40-60 mid sized £60-£100 and larger one could be any thing up to £170.

A builders skip which is good if you have bulky items is normally £120 to £150 you will probably find you fill it if not leave it overnight and your neighbour's will
