Most use a spray on but quite a few celebrities have their own tanning bed. I mean, they CAN afford it, right? *wink*

I wouldn't recommend a spray-on. Totally orange looking depending on your own body chemistry and how the spray chemicals will react to you.

Personally, I don't care for sunlit coffins so a tanning bed is out for me. Besides, I like the convenience of going from my back deck to the refrigerator for a nice cool one when the going gets too hot, don't you? *smile*

A lot of them do go to tanning salons and use the beds. I know, i live in West hollywood and see them there. plus, there's paparazzi photos of them going in and out of the salons. A lot of them also use mystic at these salons which is a spray. The problem with this is that it can make you look orange. a lot also get the airbrush tan especially before a big premiere or award show. Also, these celebs have money and free time to go on vacation. It may be winter here but its summer in Australia where Paris spent her new years and so did Tara Reid.
I recommend trying different lotions and sprays that you can use at home. The salons are expensive. I currently use sally hansen airbrush tanner. At first i didnt like it but u wasnt using it right. You got to spray it then rub it in for an even tan.
Try a bunch of tanners and see which one matches your natural tan color.
Check out the product reviews for tanners on www.Makeupalley.com so you dont waste your money on crappy ones.

Pro applied spray on tans. Booths are error prone, get the wrong position and you miss bits etc where as a pro ensures an even coverage.

And no, you won't be orange unless you REALLY overdo it. Steer clear of UV beds, the risk is not worth it. DHA in spray tans (and also creams etc) is the only FDA approved tanning ingredient.

See the great effect at http://www.tropical-sunrise.com/spray-tan-gallery.html who I use.

For £25 they come to my home, set up, tan me and leave 30 minutes later. Fantastic. There must be a mobile tanner near you, if not, get a pro applied one at a salon.

They do use artificial Tanning like: tanning towelettes, lotion, but most celebs are having an airbrush tanning, done in Skincare Salons. Manual airbrushing does a better job than the automatic tanning booths.
I've done all above and prefer either airbrush or towelettes.
towelettes and airbrush will last 7-10 days depends on you're lifestyle and be sure that before each new appl. to do an exfoliation.

They use a mixture of tanning bed, spray on and airbrush. I think they also use lotion. Alot of them go weekly to get the spray on and monthly for the tanning bed. They spend so much money on making themselves look picture ready all the time. Wish I had a person to do my hair, nails and makeup daily.

I read in Cosmopolitan that celebrities faked tan...however, I recently saw a picture of Paris Hilton laying out on the beach and Jessica Simpson used to lay out in her yard on Newlyweds...so, I think many of them do spray tan (that's why they are orange sometimes) but Lindsay Lohan definetly does not tan and her tan now (2007) looks beautiful!!! (She used to be orange but she's gotten more experience with them that's why she looks so good now!)

Well there are many reasons like they are just born tan. next they go to tanning beds, they go to the beach and most stars live in warm areas! or all body make up or even spray on tan. and if u want a spray on tan u may look orange so just go to the beach it is easier.

good luck!!!!!!

They are sprayed by a make up artist who specializes in that. No, they would never use a tanning bed... they would not risk a wrinkle or freckle. Then they go to someone who specializes in hair extensions. Then to a color expert for the dress. Then to a designer to suggest the cut and style. Then to a consultant to help with the appropriate jewelry. Then to a jeweler who is willing to loan that jewelry. Then , to the make up artist, manicure, pedicure..... and on and on it goes to become flawless for the camera.

Mystic Tan - otherwise known as spray tan. I love it! It doesn't turn you orange, but it is pricey

Unfortunantely you have to use a taning bed or get airbrushed, If you want an tan all over. If not you have to get make up for your face.
