Marina baked cookies. She gave 3/4 of the cookies to the scout bake sale. Then she shared the remaining 6 cookies with her friends. How many cookies did Marina bake?

If she only had 6 left that is 1/4 of what she originally baked so I would take 6 times 4 so she baked 24 cookies...She must have given away 18 and kept 6 for herself..s

6 cookies + 3/4 total = 1 total
subtract the 3/4 of the total 1-3/4=1/4
6 cookies = 1/4 total
multiply by 4 to get the total amount 6x4=24 1/4x4=1
24 cookies = total

if 6 = 1/4 of total cookies baked, then 24 = total cookies baked

x=total cookie baked
3/4x = cookies given to bake sale

x-3/4x=6

solve for x

1/4x=6
4*1/4x=6*4

x=24

think about it . if 1/4 = 6 and she gave 3/4 away. then 6+6+6 =18. she gave away 18 and had 6 left. so what is 18+6..?
