All about situation and mixing it up. The good servers can hit all 3 kinds of serves to the corners of the box and to the body, and they mix it up to the backhand. As in, hitting the big flat one, then maybe hitting a kicker to the backhand, slice out wide and come in, flat to the body, off-kicker to the forehand to throw em off, etc.

Usually the deadliest serve, are lefty with a wicked slice, most people have trouble returning the ball. A kick serve slows down the ball but kick high, easy to return. A flat serve, u just need to block back, the return will be fast but easy to see.

The one that goes in :) ... But seriously, that depends on your opponent, situation and surface. A good flat serve will be an asset on a grass or hard court but on clay, you may have more success with an off pace serve like a slice or kick serve.

I wouldnt do the 1st serve completly flat, but with more power than the second. It's a good idea to have a spin shot for ur second serve, because it can become very accurate and isnt too easy to hit back. Just focus mainly on using a continental grip, and if that doesnt work, do whatever makes u feel most comfortable. Competively though, ur going to need to have a very hard accurate serve, but otherwise, try out new things to see what works out best. :-)

i think the kick serve is the best for a 1st serve; Boris Becker had a tremendous kick serve in the 80s and 90s. i'd say a slice serve is better used for a 2nd serve.

there is no BEST serve, but there are different situations you use them. certain players are weak on returning certain serves. usually i use a more flat but speedy first serve, and a spin second serve. and my placement of the serve varies to weak and strong forehands and backhands. so basically it depends on what ur used to and what are the opponents weaknesses.

I like to hit it hard and flat right down the middle line. But it also depends on what your opponent's strengths and weaknesses.

All of the above. Mix it up. If you use the same serve every time, you will find yourself losing a lot of your service games.
