If they don't even let you return it, if there are issues with it, then don't buy it, there are too many if's.

I wouldn't buy new software from CompUSA, much less a "refurbished laptop." You are asking for trouble, and will undoubtedly get it. If you can't return an item, that should tell you right then that this is something you need to back away from, quickly! Shop around more. Prices change all the time. You'll find what you need, which is a new laptop or desktop. Never buy rebuilt or refurbished. It isn't worth it.

On a laptop, no. On a white box(custom made PC), yes. On custom white box PCs, each part has its own warranty, so even if you bought it without warranty, it would be easy to replace parts yourself since it doesn't void the warranty of other parts. While the seller might not give a warranty, the laptop could still have Acer warranty since its quite a new laptop anyway. When buying cheap laptops, be sure that it will meet your needs for the next 5 years, since technology advances quite quickly that could be matched by upper end laptops. My Vaio comes from 2006 but is still quite powerful now, if you discount the heat issues, its been 5 years and its about the end. It's still quite fast and it has an equivalent speed of a lower end 2010 Core i3.

Hello annika,

The refurbished Macintosh computers that are sold keep their original warranty. It's just like buying it new, only you're paying the refurbished price. I'm kind of surprised that CompUSA doesn't do this. I would be careful about that, annika. Best of luck to you.

it actually depends on why it had to be refurbished which they will not usually tell you, refurbished could me something as the original hard drive was replaced to wires had to be re-soldered so unless you know exactly what the original problem was i wouldn't risk it
