I have one friend who says you should stock up when things are for sale on things you need like hair stuff, toothpaste, toilet paper, paper plates, etc. But my other friend says buy as you go stocking up is a waste of money. Right now I kinda buy as I go but keep some thigs in extras. But I have extra money a month that I was saving but my one friend told me i should take half of the money I have left after each month and stock up on stuff and save the rest. But the other friend says save it all. I'm trying to figure out witch is better in the long run. What would be better?

well this is a new twist on the insane questions like i really don't have 10 dependants but I claim 10 will i get into trouble????

In fact its a REFRESHING change of pace and its a GOOD question.

Mopw then it depends on WHAT you are stocking up on. TP, plates and stuff like that is fine but toothpaste and other stuff like that that has expiration dates isn't that good of an idea to stock up. I only buy what I need and when I need it it is usually in bulk.

Its ok if its in moderation but not really that necessary. Besides the sales on these items are just to get you inside so you can buy the real stuff they want you to buy to begin with.

You should stock up if the savings is enough to cover the loss of use of your money. If you can ALWAYS get a deal on toilet paper, then it makes no sense to keep a 90 day supply on hand. The other problem with stocking up is that things change and you don't want to end up throwing things away.

Buying when things are on sale and keeping them stocked up will save you money so long as you don't let things get so old as to be unusable. Otherwise, it is an investment not a waste of money.

We always buy whatever we can at Sam's club and keep it on hand. The packages are larger, the prices are far cheaper and we rarely run out of anything we need. Running out of something and being forced to run to the store can get expensive too.

IF you have the room to store things when stocking up DEFINITELY stock up.... You'd have to be mental to not see the savings of things when they are on sale and knowing that you WILL USE THEM EVENTUALLY... such as tooth paste, q-tips, toilet paper, food items as well.

I did not get to where I am today by NOT stocking up and saving BIG $$$$. I also tutor others how to save while shopping by taking them shopping ans showing them how to save as little as $100.oo in one trip to the store. $100.oo a trip can definitely add up.

Stock up and invest what you save. Have that money make you MORE money !!!

In the long run you will spend less if you buy things on sale, so if a particular item has a great discount... I would buy a few of them. Make sure you don't but items just because they are on sale... only buy items you need, not necessarily because it is on sale.

I don't "stock up." It takes up space and ties up your money. When I need to buy something, I look for sales, coupons, discounts or go to deep discount stores.
