London's public transport would be jammed packed and probably grind to a halt before 8am. Last time I checked it out, something like 51% of Londoners travel to and from work by car. Maybe this is down a bit now due to the Car Charge - certainly fewer Chelsea Tractors.
Before privatisation of the railways, the old British Rail used to boast that they put more people into London in the morning rush than we managed to land on the beaches of Normandy on D-Day. Do not think that record stands today.
Arcadia is right - What Tube? Here in south (sahf) east London part of our Council Tax goes to support the 'Tube' but we don't have any tube stations here.
DavidF has a good point about London's buses. Back in the 1960s when I was a young man, the journey from where I live to central London took about 20 minutes - now more than one hour. Blimey. Far fewer cars then.

London would be a far pleasanter place to live. And don't worry about overcrowding in the tube - the bus would become a practical and fast means of transport. And because buses would be so much faster they would be able to operate a more frequent service using the same number of buses and drivers.

To us coach drivers it would be a blessing on tours. The traffic, especially the ?@>< motorcyclists not being there would make our lives a lot easier and reduce a great deal of stress. From your point of view the less cars the faster the buses and taxis could run around thus reducing the transit time allowing you to catch later transport.

Everyone would go bankrupt. The price of travelling by public transport is extortionate and quite ironic, considering the congestion charge and taxes for car users.

It would create enough revenue for more buses & trains, so we'd have a more efficient network - oh, wait this is LONDON we're talking about, so no - efficiency isn't really something we excel at. Get back in your cars, everyone!!!

it'd be more unreliable than it already is.we'd all be crammed like nobs for at least a year before TFL realise that they've got an overcrowding problem on their hands so for the love of fudgecakes drive if you can.

if everyone used the bus or tube to get to work, no one would be getting to work. or everyone would be walking or cycling or think to themselves "fu*k this, i'm using the car!"
it would stop pollution though.

You would stand in a queue for 2 hours (in the wind and rain, being hassled by winos and beggars) to get to work; then stand in a queue for 2 hours (in the wind and rain, being hassled by winos and beggars) to come home.
Whereas now, you sit in a queue for 2 hours (in your nice warm car, with the radio on) to get to work; then sit in a queue for 2 hours (in your nice warm car, with the radio on) to come home.
