It's not looking good lets put it that way. A lot of these site are managed by private companies that can just claim bankruptcy at any time they choose.
Although we are starting to look at biodegradeable waste products we are some way behind were we need to be. I think it will lead to a serious effect on public health, maybe then people will pay attention to our frivilous use and discard of non-degradeable and potentially harmful substances in packaging and products.

I do not know but if you ever have seen the "Grand Camyon" it would make a great landfill for the whole country for many years.

"Leachate" leaks from them, plastics get in the soil, Toxins, may get into the water supply "Run Off", Methane gas builds up making an explosive danger always present, health issues, just to start, there is tons more

i agree nothing about putting tons of garbage in the ground sounds good for anything or anyone very toxic to everything including us! i think a good question would be where else can we put it???
