There are US toll-free numbers, Canadian toll-free numbers, and then there are north american toll-free numbers.

If the company purchased a toll free number for north america, then both US and Canadian citizens (and presumably Mexicans) can reach that number.

I have run into issues when dialing a US-only toll free number from Canada, and vice versa. My best suggestion would be to dial 1-800-555-1212. That is the directory assistance for toll free numbers (their equivalent to 411). They can either connect you to the toll free number, or tell you that it is not available to canadian citizens.

There is no difference between how US and Canadian residents use the 800 numbers. Both call the same way with a 1-800
