Spotting is generally defined as vaginal bleeding that does not require the use of a sanitary product.

Honey spotting is like the last bit on your period,
You know the bit when you can get away with just panty liners,
You can bleed and still have a healthy pregnancy so please don't get too distressed.
If it gets heavier see your GP.
Your GP should send you to the assessment unit at your hospital for a scan,
You can also bleed around the time of your expected period ie 8 weeks, 12 weeks and so on,

I had a clot next to the sac with my last baby and I was bleeding heavily, She's now 18 months old.
Rest and it may settle down

Spotting is spotting. Bright RED can mean something is wrong. Spotting is generally brown. If you are pregnant and have bright red bleeding it can mean you have placenta previa, placenta abruption, ectopic pregnancy or just polyps in your cervix. If you are ever concerned see your doctor.. i understand this isn't as easy as it is in Canada, but it's your baby your talking about.

Spotting is just that; a spot or two. Bleeding is when there is any type of flow.

Call your doctor.
