Yes of course animals have feelings. They are just like us -- they feel happiness, sorrow, have feelings for their kind and other animals including us, showing empathy, and they feel pain as we do, etc. We can learn much from animals too!

Read this beautiful extract from an online article entitled 'Animal Care', source given below extract:

"Being one day on the roof of the Mosque at old Cairo with some other persons, eating a collation, a cat went over to them and they gave it a bit of meat. The animal took it into its mouth and went off, but soon returned again, on which they threw another morsel to it. This is carried off also, and it kept going and coming a great number of times, at each of which it received from them another bit. Struck with this singularity, and knowing that no single cat could eat all that they had given, they suspected something extraordinary, and followed the animal. Then they saw it clamber over a wall on the roof and go down into an empty place like an abandoned room. There, they found another cat, but blind, eating of the food which had been brought to it and set before it by its companion. They were so much struck with this, and Ibn Babashadh said: "Since God has caused this speechless animal to be served and fed by another cat, and not withheld from its nourishment, how could He let a human being such as I perish of hunger?" He immediately broke off all the ties which bound him to the world; he gave up his place, renounced his salary and shut himself up in a chamber, where he pursued his studies in the full confidence that God would provide for him. His friends then took care of him and supported him till he died."

Animals experience the entire range of feelings, including emotions.

Yes. I believe that any animal, human or otherwise, that has a soul, and all living things have a soul, has feelings as well. Unfortunately, they do not have our ways of expressing themselves, but they do use what God gave them to try and communicate hurt, love, happiness, sadness, excitement and believe it or not some can express shame and guilt.

Are you a Member of Peta? Well anyway if animals have mental emotions than a Bear would have to feel Guilty about killing a camper or hiker in a murderous fit.

If you mean if you kick them do they hurt.. well yes they have nerves in their body just like everyone else.
But if your talking about emotional stuff that humans get into daily...no they live in the 'now' as long as they are foraging for food or sleeping they aren't going to care what the other animals are thinking about them; cause they don't think they just do what instincts tell them to do like eat and rest. They might respond to some people or a bell but emotions are for cartoon animals not real ones.

Yes, animals have feelings BUT
they can't be defined in terms of human emotions.

As much as you want to anthropomorphize your animal companion, the fact is, their instinct is their emotional barometer.

yes. some have more emotional feelings than humans. my late horse penelope was astounding. roy rogers said trigger was like that. i dunno. just know about horses. i don't think crocs are that way nor any of the reptiles. of course most dogs, many cats and some parrots demonstrate strong feelings. monkeys, gorillas etc. do. and what could have bigger displays of feelings than elephants? the answer is yes. soon they will get genetic splices in italy so we can talk to them about it. wont that be great?

If you've ever seen a mother animal defend her young, then your question is answered.

I think so, if I scold my dog, he puts his head down and gives me his paws as if to say I'm sorry.
