Seems like I'm digging this up all the time.

First, log into the router. It will use an IP address on a web browser. Check your documentation for the address.

Once you log in (you may need a userid and password to get in), you will need to go to the wireless section and security. There you will find the WEP key. the key consists of pairs of characters. Each pair will consist of the numbers 0 - 9 and letters a-f. The WEP key is a hexidecimal number (base 16).

It will look something like:

0a 12 37 d3 aa 00 27 09 f4 92 ......

It may be 28 characters (i think thats the max).

Linksys will generate this hex number for you. you will have to enter a phrase like "HoW muCH iS tHaT $#@ dOG?" By using special characters, it's harder to guess your key.

That's something you set yourself to make a secure router. If you never set it (and no one did it for you) then you are running an unsecure network and don't need the code. If you definitely have WEP security and didn't write the code down you'll have to reconfigure the router from scratch, or log into it directly and disable it or change the code.

I'm not familiar with your cable provider, so if they set it up, perhaps they can tell you.

You won't find a WEP code on the bottom of the router! The WEP code is whatever YOU set it to be on the security configuration page.

Read your router's docs and it will explain how to set up WEP.

When you setup your router you specified the wep (password). if you didn't then your wireless network is unsecured or using the default password (found in the documentation).
