The boffins have been warning us for long enough about such things and as ususal we tend to disregard them and assume that something will turn up to sort it out. I heard on the TV today that in Moscow now it is usually freezing - down to about 20 degrees or so below freezing with thick snow & frozen rivers but this year theres no snow & the temperature is about + 6/7 degrees. Things are changing rapidly everywhere

Actually, according to the Horizon proramme I watched today we will have a climate like Alaska in 50 years' time. Basically global warming means that the sea between Scotland and Norway is getting less salty due to all the meltwater from Greenland and more fresh water from the main rivers in Siberia due to more rainfall coming up from the tropics, so the water at the end of the Gulf Stream is less dense and doesn't sink to the sea bed for the return journey. Gulf Stream stops and we end up with long and very cold winters.

Now THAT is scary, and it could happen VERY suddenly ie within a period of a year or two at any point in the next 20-100 years.

If global warming continues, most of the country will be covered in snow, so I don't think you have to worry abot Mt Snowdon being snowless.
