Ozgard is 100% correct.

As for those that argue he didn't do anything to affect the outcome of games - that's not the point. What is important is that he violated what has been considered one of baseball's most sacrosanct rules since the days of Landis. He knew the rules, and he willingly broke them, then followed that up with years of lies. I know the Hall isn't made up completely of great characters, but even idiots like Ty Cobb followed the rules to a degree.

He should get in when Joe Jackson does - namely, never.

He won't. He's been off of the ballots, and the time has expired for the baseball writers to get him voted in.

The only way he can get in now is if the commisioner of baseball (Bud Selig) allows it to happen.

And Bud doesn't think to fondly of Pete, so don't expect a bust of Charlie Hustle up in Cooperstown anytime soon.

When he dies, the Veterans Committee will remember how great of a player he was, and will elect him into the Hall, even though he gambled. The Hall of Fame should be judging people on their ability to play the game, not their character.

Never....he cheated the system and thus he should pay. Yea he was a hella ballplayer but still you don't bet on any sport if your playing it. And Big Mac got what he had coming to him. Barry does too. They are roidmonkeys and thus they should be banned from any records and the hall of fame.

pete rose should be in the hall of fame before barry bonds. and "Craig S" i disagree. the hall of fame is pretty much based on on-field performances. therefore rose is deserving to be in the hall. bonds shall never the HOF because what he did, DID AFFECT how he played the game; gambling has no affect on how one performs on the field.

Hopefully soon. By today's standards, what he did was nothing. Its disturbing that people on steroids will get into the hall by cheating but one of the greatest players is being held out for something that has nothing to do with how well he played. It is a disgrace to baseball.

I think he will eventually. What he did ON the field was different what he did OFF the field! There's guys in there that did far worse and look at them!
