Mike, your computer is infected with a hijacker trojan called Zlob which hijacks your homepage to one of many rogue websites including assureprotection.com. Download SpyNoMore from the link below to remove asecureboard.com and the Zlob trojan which put it there in the first place. Another symptom of Zlob Trojan is that it generates fake warning messages like:

System Alert
Critical System Error
System Performance monitor warning
Security Alert: NetWorm-i.Virus@fp
W32.Myzor.FK@yf

You have been attacked by a spyware program that is a variation on the Zlob Trojan. You were probably tricked into installing this software to update your media codecs, but what really happened is you installed a browser hijacking trojan.

I fell victim to this scam myself recently. After trying some of the free scanners, I went ahead and invested in a commercial-grade spyware scanner. I chose XoftspySE and have been very happy with its performance so far. It not only cleared up my problem with Zlob, but also found and removed some other garbageware.

You can download a free XoftspySE scan here:

Good luck!

I'm surprised that Ad-Aware won't find it, because it did find one this morning when I ran it on my computer. Then, download, install, update and run SpyBot. Be sure to immunize the computer first. SpyBot now immunizes the computer against over 15,000 known pieces of spyware.

Browser hijackers are pieces of malware or spyware, and require constant checking to get rid of them.

Try a few other antispyware here:
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html
http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html
http://www.emsisoft.com/en/software/free/

Between these 4 apps your problem should be gone. If not download Hijack This http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/programs.php >>>and post your log to the website and someone will help you out.

(1) Download Firefox immediately and use that instead of IE from now on
(2) Go to Comodo's website and download Comodo Antivirus - its free
(3) While you are there, also get the free Comodo Firewall software as well
(4) Download XoftSpy and CounterSpy to sweep for trojan horse programs
(5) Download AdAware to sweep for ad based items

Then install them all and run them all - they should clean up your whole system for you.

Download HijackThis ( http://downloads.malwareremoval.com/HijackThis.exe ) , run a scan and save the log.

Copy and paste the log to this forum ( http://forum.malwareremoval.com/viewforum.php?f=11 )

You'll need to register before posting the log.

Don't fix anything you see in the log, as most of them are harmless.
